Queen Bees away in Solihull
Queen Bees headed to the Midlands for an away game against the Solihull Vixens. Solihull borrowed Kingston's netminder Charlotte Cook as Ruth Cattell had a mens game.
The first period was penalty heavy in what felt like a water logged rink with the first one being handed out only 54 seconds after the puck was dropped, #4 Adams received 2 minutes for tripping. Solihull's power play didn't come to anything and soon after Solihull's #7 Henry got a 2 minute for Body Checking At 8.07 Queen Bees #8 Lossnitzer got a call for Tripping. Solihulls #5 Dance was the next player to get a penalty again for Body Checking, Queen Bees finally took advantage of this PP and #15 Handisides played the puck to #24 Aldridge who passed it to #14 Ganney which placed it into the net. At 16.40 one of Queen Bees youngest players #40 Beresford played the puck to #24 Aldridge to put the second goal past Cook. at 19.32 #20 Curtis got the final penalty of the period with a 2+10 for Body Checking.
Solihull started the second period with fresh ice on a power play but the Queen Bees stayed strong and held them out. At 22:04 one of our newest players #6 Cartwright showed her talent and dangled past the Solihull's players and scored top right shelf. No stopping #6 as she got the pass from #8 Lossnitzer and placed her second goal past Cook.
Solihull were 4 goals down and were still playing strong and didn't give up and #7 Henry shot the puck and #23 Warwick picked the puck up on the back post to put their first goal past Queen Bees Bonathan. It was end to end hockey and both teams were showcasing their strength on the ice. Queen Bees got a icing call and the face off was made in their end. Straight off Louise Adams face off #11 Newman picked up the puck and skated the rink and shot the puck which crept in near side by the post making it 5-1 at the end of the second period.
5.28 into the third period #17 Keijzer got 2 minutes for Body Checking and #24 Aldridge made the most of this with making a pass to #15 Handisides to get the 6th Queen Bees goal. #4 Rigby was the last Solihull player to get a penalty and again Queen Bees dominated the situation to get their 7th goal by #23 Adams assisted by defence #2 Lamb with a further assist from #11 Newman. At 7-1 Solihull was not giving up the fight and took the puck into the Bees Zone #8 Krupkova got the shot off and the rebound went out and #4 Rigby picked it up to place it above Bonathan's Shoulder.
The last 9.10 minutes Michelle Franklin got a skate out with Solihull in net taking over stand in goalie from Hull, Cook who got a decent save rate of 83.33%.
This game Bonathan's save rate was 94.12%.
The game was fast and strong with both teams showing their talents, they still have 3 more games to play against each other so it's still all to play for.
Player of the Game #4 Cartwright.
