Bracknell Fire Bees welcomed Whitley Squaws on Sunday for their second meeting of the EIHA Premier League, the second tier of Women's hockey in the UK.
The Fire Bees currently sit seventh in the Premier league with three games left to play. Whitley Squaws are in second place. When the two teams met earlier in the season, The Squaws won the closely contested game 5-4 at Whitley.
On Sunday, the Fire Bees took an early lead through Fay at 4.27. Fire Bees led until the final minute of the first period where Whitley got themselves on the score board, ending the period tied at 1-1.
With the second period underway, Squaws took the lead to make it 2-1 at 23.29, however it was a quick response from Harris to make it even at 24.12. Remmington's goal at 35.00 put the Fire Bees back in front at 3-2.
In the third period, the Fire Bees added to their lead with goals from Harris and Beal at 42.09 and 57.26 respectively. Whilst the Fire Bees were in a strong position at 5-2, the Squaws managed to claw a final goal back just before the final buzzer to make it 5-3.
Player of the game was goalie Meryia Throop who faced 29 shots, conceding 3, giving her a save percentage of 89.66%.
